A BIGink employee recycled scrap from our CNC router to create shelves for her home. |
We work with our vendor and client partners continually to test new substrates that are kinder to the environment. Check out our list of currently available Green materials.
We have a Green Team that meets regularly to share ideas on how we can improve our internal processes with regard to being conscious, and conscientious, of how our business impacts the environment. Our changes include obtaining separated recycling bins for our administrative waste, recycling our plastic based production scrap (sintra, styrene, vinyl), and working with employees children’s schools and Creation Station in Edmonds to donate usable material scraps for creative young artists.
Is it ALL about the content, footprint, and next life cycle?
There’s a lot out there labeled “Green.” It’s more than a bit confusing, and the more we learn, the more we realize how much there is yet to learn. BIGink considers your end-user’s needs in determining what green products and practices make sense to offer and develop in our business. In the world of large-format graphics, recycled or biodegradable products will not always be the appropriate choice for your client’s specific needs on every job.
| Project engineering can provide solutions that lead to less overall waste. BIGink is committed to offering innovative engineering that can reduce non-biodegrading/non-recyclable waste when possible. ► What about a permanent fixture that allows you to change unmounted seasonal POP prints out to refresh them, instead of discarding graphics that are a combination of print, board, adhesive, and lam? ► Perhaps printing vinyl banners 2-sided, rather than sewing two 1-sided banners together, so less vinyl is used? Thinking Green goes beyond stock and ink… seemingly small considerations, such as a suggested size change to improve yield and reduce waste, can add up to less in a landfill. |
Join us in looking for concrete, useful ways to practice the Three R’s – Reduce, Re-use, and Renew. If you have questions, or ideas to share, we’d love to hear them.
